Scientific Centre for Aerospace Research of the Earth (CASRE)

Kiev, Ukraine

Lead by Academician Prof. Mykhailo O. Popov, expert in the field of microelectronics, has extensive experience in remote sensing methods and systems, geoinformatics, and imagery analysis, the output of electrical signals and their processing. The Scientific Centre for Aerospace Research of the Earth (CASRE) is a state academic organisation. It was founded in 1992 by the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Ukraine. It consists of four scientific departments and employs about 100 scientists. Its main field of research is system analysis for the problems of remote sensing of the Earth, including water resources, the acquisition and thematic interpretation remote sensing data, aerospace image processing and preparation of geoinformation products. For this, the models for the general spectral patterns of the environmental objects are developed, and their relations with the environment features and properties are determined and estimated. The CASRE keeps the leading position in Ukraine in Aerospace research in Geology and GeoEcology and also in software architecture for embedded systems and customized electronic solutions.
